Topic – Trust, Trade and Technology – how the UK advertising industry leads the world.
Stephen was appointed CEO of the Advertising Association in September 2016. The Advertising Association’s mission is to promote and protect the role, rights and responsibilities of advertising and all the key media owners and trade bodies are members of the AA.
Prior to joining, Stephen held management roles in three agencies (Leo Burnett, WCRS/Engine and DDB/adam&eveDDB). He also currently chairs youth marketing agency Livity, a social purpose-driven business that seeks to transform young peoples’ lives, especially from BAME backgrounds. He is a founder and director of U, a digital challenger to conventional banks. Stephen is a past President of NABS and serves on the board of the History of Advertising Trust. He was IPA President (2003-05) where he led both their first ethnic diversity initiative and transformed its professional qualifications for new industry entrants.

Barry has 20 years’ experience within the marketing services sector, including 9 years as Group COO at Naked Communications where he established offices across the globe prior to managing its sale to Australian listed marcoms group, Photon.
He subsequently became COO of Photon’s International Agency Division, establishing further operations in Sweden, Germany, India, Singapore and the Middle East. He also divested and merged various Photon businesses. Barry is an FCA having spent time with Kingston Smith, Andersen and Deloitte.
His days in professional practice afforded him great experience across assurance services, due diligence and post-merger integration for clients including WPP, Omnicom and Sky. Barry has advised across a range of enterprise values from small design agencies to a £1bn telco transaction.

Nick is the former founder and CEO of the PR agency Band & Brown which shot to fame in the 1990s and 2000s before being sold to a Canadian marketing group. The following five years were spent as an independent consultant and leader of the collective Berlin.
In January this year, Nick set up Pimento People with Stephen Knight to take advantage of the shift in employment patterns following the explosion of the gig economy. Pimento People places freelancers in media and marketing companies and has pioneered a unique loan scheme which enables firms to second teams or individuals to other companies.

Lee is a professional business keynote speaker, conference host and author of the best-selling ‘The Busy Person’s Guide To Great Presenting’. He was a professional magician for 20 years, is a member of the Magic Circle and was described by Prince William as ‘absolutely amazing’. He has written theatre works for The Almeida Theatre, and has been a commissioned writer at The Royal Opera House.
In a previous life, Lee was a sales director at News International and he uses this background in magic, theatre and sales to give presentations, keynotes and coaching to inspire people to become more persuasive, present better, and increase their ability to get their messages across confidently to colleagues and clients.

A qualified forensic scientist, Diana has spent the last decade dissecting the strategic marketing performance of brands large and small.
A driving force behind the leading UK built and managed, GDPR-compliant marketing automation platform Force24, she has held a senior role with the company for the last eight years. During this time, the business has gone from a tech start-up competing with established global giants from Silicon Valley, to the platform most talked about for being the UK’s ‘next generation of marketing automation’.

A former Advertising Executive, Brand & Marketing Director and CMO with 30 years sales and marketing experience. Stephen has held a variety of positions at major international agencies, and spent 5 years with the Walt Disney Company latterly as Senior Vice-President of Marketing and Brand Management for Europe, Middle East and Africa.
In 2003, he joined Creata, a global promotions agency, as their European MD where amongst other things he oversaw the McDonalds, Ferrari and Kellogg’s accounts.
Having worked successfully above and below the line, client and agency side, he felt it was time to do his own thing and founded Pimento in 2005. From 2013-2016 Stephen extended his role at Pimento with interim contracts at SSE as Head of Brand, Marketing and CMO. In addition to his responsibilities at Pimento he is a NED of Ebico, a not-for-profit energy company.
