Government

Vidatec partnered with Public Health England (PHE) to enhance national health outcomes through the strategic development of digital tools designed to promote healthier lifestyles across the UK.

The Challenge

PHE aimed to extend their outreach and impact by leveraging digital technology to offer personalised health support. The challenge was to engage a digitally connected population effectively, using innovative solutions to foster healthy lifestyle choices among users. This initiative focused on addressing major public health concerns such as obesity, smoking, excessive alcohol consumption, and improving child health.

Our approach

Vidatec collaborated with PHE to develop a suite of mobile applications that supported public health campaigns and initiatives. Key projects included:

  • Couch to 5K (C25K): Designed to encourage novice runners, this app aimed to improve fitness and well-being as part of the One You program. It proved particularly valuable during the COVID-19 lockdowns.
  • NHS Smokefree: A four-week program designed to assist individuals in quitting smoking, featuring tracking and motivational support to sustain user commitment.
  • Change4Life Smart Recipes and One You Easy Meals: These apps provided users with healthy recipes and meal planning tools to facilitate better dietary choices.
  • Stoptober and Drink Free Days: Targeted apps to support users in reducing or quitting smoking and managing alcohol intake, complemented by motivational tracking and health impact insights.

Each application was developed with an intuitive user interface and integrated seamlessly with existing health services to ensure widespread accessibility and engagement.
