Workplace Mental Health: 3 Tips from 3 Pimento Member Agencies

In today’s fast-paced business environment, workplace mental health has become more important than ever across all industries and sectors. Positive mental health not only improves employee wellbeing but also boosts productivity, creativity and the quality of work.

According to the Mental Health Foundation, for every £1 invested in mental health in the workplace, there is a positive return on investment of around £5.

Since Pimento’s inception, we’ve focussed on modern realities, never thought one-size-fits-all, and encouraged new ideas and ways of working – our network of agencies have a number of different ways of incorporating positive mental health initiatives in their workplaces. Below are three tips by Pimento member agencies on how they have successfully embraced mental health in the workplace and the benefits they have seen so far.

Crush: Team Bonding with Bake-Off

This year, Crush decided to host a bake-off competition, where each week two staff baked a tasty treat and then voted for the overall ‘Star Baker’.

As a close-knit agency, this was a thoroughly enjoyable activity that the whole team could get involved in. For some, baking was a completely new thing to them, while for others it proved rather therapeutic, as well as rewarding for the whole team. Everyone received their own ‘Crush’ apron and the winner was rewarded with wine.

All in all, this activity was a great way of getting everyone invested in one goal, as well as providing some light entertainment and tasty treats. This challenge might just return for Christmas!

PromoVeritas: Embracing YuLife

PromoVeritas introduced the YuLife app to encourage wellbeing through daily challenges such as walking or meditation.

Employees participate in fun, healthy competitions while the app offers support through an Employee Assistance Programme.

This approach has increased team engagement and mental clarity.

We’ve loved seeing the competitive streak take hold amongst the team, challenging each other to be top of the leaderboard!

Literal Humans: Four-Day Work Week

We all work too much.

We all know it.

God gave us Yosemite and we invited taxes.

All is not lost, though. We can reclaim some of our humanity by giving some time back to our teams.

The four day work week has helped Literal Humans reduce stress and mental health issues across the team, increase productivity and employee satisfaction, lessen their environmental impact (less commuting), whilst continuing to deliver high-quality work for clients. It’s not a panacea, but it is a serious step towards healing workplace cultures that often cause burnout.

Paul David, Founder of Literal Humans, discusses his learnings from their 4-day work week

Final Thoughts
