Challenges

How do you stand apart in a market driven by performance comparisons?

The hypercar market is dominated by comparisons of engineering, specifications and performance, making it difficult for new models to stand out. McLaren wanted to launch the Senna in a way that would create a stronger emotional connection with prospective buyers and differentiate it from competitors such as Ferrari and Lamborghini.

Approach

By building the launch around Ayrton Senna's enduring legacy.

Rather than focusing on technical specifications, Initials CX centred the launch on the unique story behind the Senna name. Rooted in audience insight, the strategy recognised the admiration that current and future hypercar owners continue to hold for Ayrton Senna.

This led to the development of the "Challenge the Impossible" concept, which became the foundation for the launch messaging and campaign. Using rare race footage, archive material and original commentary, the launch film celebrated Senna's ethos, skill and determination.
